The column at right lists the research topics completed by IES students.  Each year, four to six Public Service Projects are completed by graduate student teams for communities, governmental agencies, nonprofit organizations, and individuals. Click on a topic to see a list of all projects completed in that area.

Reprints of these research monographs as well as faculty research are available for the cost of printing. In addition, the Institute has produced informative tape/slide presentations for rent and purchase for the cost of reproduction.

1985-4 Flooding: As It is Related to Storm-Water Runoff in Oxford, Ohio 
This project was undertaken to determine if a flooding problem from storm-water runoff existed within Oxford, which areas were affected, what caused flooding, and what could be done to alleviate the problem. 

1989-2 Short-term Water Shortage Management for Butler County 
This project evaluated alternative short-term management options in use in the United States and assisted local managers in addressing water shortages, 

1990-1 Market Analysis for Compost For Hamilton Wastewater Treatment Plant 
This report investigated the market potential for sewage sludge compost through a survey of landscapers, nurseries, golf courses, tree farms, and soil amendment dealers to measure perception and willingness to use sewage sludge compost. 

1991-2 Odor Reduction and Public Involvement at the Hamilton Wastewater Treatment Plant 
This report analyzed the relationship of odor complaints to weather and made recommendations on improvement of public relations. 

1993-3 Chemical and Biological Investigation of Nonpoint Source Pollution in Elk Creek, Butler County: Water Quality Monitoring and Source Determination 
Biological and chemical monitoring of Elk Creek showed that the stream water was of good quality with little nonpoint pollution detected. 

1995-2 Water Conservation and Education-Butler County,
Ohio 

A water loss study and residential water conservation pilot study addressed concerns regarding water loss in the utility system and
increasing water demand. 

1995-3 Effects of Upper Mill Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant on the East Fork of Mill Creek: A Water Quality Study 
A biological and chemical water quality survey of the East Fork of Mill Creek was undertaken to determine if water quality improvements occurred as a result of expansions completed at the Upper Mill Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant.
