PROJECT COSTS

Public service project costs are shared by the client and the university. When projects are accepted from sponsors with very little money, the degree of university participation must often be a matter of negotiation. However, no prospective client should be constrained from approaching the Institute regarding a potential project.  The client is not charged for student or faculty time required by the public service project.  Also, there is no monetary cost to the students for participation in a project.

Large direct-cost items, such as workshops and conferences, large mailings for surveys, commercial laboratory charges, major travel obligations, and multiple copies of reports or other materials prepared during the project are paid by the client.

Communication charges are assumed by the university, for telephone, fax, and mailings, except for large mailings and certain telephone survey work.
