ADMISSION
INFORMATION
Students
from all disciplines--physical and biological sciences, social sciences,
humanities, technology, education and the arts--who have an interest in
environmental problem solving are actively encouraged to apply. Applicants
should have the following:
-
A cumulative undergraduate grade point average of at least 2.75 (of a
possible 4.00) or 3.00 in the last two undergraduate years.
-
Three letters of recommendation, two of which should be from
the applicant's baccalaureate school (one from the major department)
unless he/she has been out of school for some time, in which case
letters from employers confirming professional competence will be
accepted.
-
A letter from the applicant to the Director outlining his/her
reasons for and expectations in applying for admission to the
Institute's degree program. Considerable emphasis is placed on this
letter in the admission process.
-
A current resume of education and experience.
-
Scores on standardized tests, such as the Miller Analogies Test
and Graduate Record Examination may be submitted for consideration as
part of an application, but such scores are not required.
An applicant whose undergraduate grade point average is less
than 2.75 is encouraged to submit these scores in order to display
more fully the capability to do graduate work. Those considering
submission of test scores should be aware that there is often a
significant delay (two to four months) in transmission of GRE scores
to a university. MAT scores are normally transmitted within one week. The
entering class normally includes 20-25 students. There are about 70
students in the program at any one time.
