LANDFILLS and REGULATIONS

Landfill Regulations - How they operate:
There are four (or five or six) government entities that regulate environmental laws.
1.  The U.S. E.P.A. sets guidelines.
2.  The State of Ohio that sets the specific details to meet those guidelines (ie. the Ohio Administrative Code, OAC).
3.  The "Ohio E.P.A." is charged with providing "permits" for uses according to the Ohio Administration Code.
4.  Counties provide "zoning regualtions" in order to regulate development and growth.
5.  Counties also help regulate / enforce the permit regulations - sometimes through County Health Departments.
6.  Some townships have home control of zoning. Municipalities typically have home control of zoning.

Ohio E.P.A. - Division of Solid and Infectious Waste     Ohio E.P.A. administers the "PERMIT" process and follows the "Ohio Administrative Code"
